Take the REBT Challenge – Dr. Walter J. Matweychuk
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is not easy psychotherapy to implement. It will help you to experience the pleasant feeling of satisfaction that comes with therapeutic progress and personal growth, but you have to work for it. REBT is strong medicine for a tough world. It is not a feel-good therapy. It challenges you in so many different ways, but there is a real emotional and behavioral payoff if you take up the challenge. Here are a few of the many challenges it suggests you attempt to implement on a day to day basis:
1. Think for yourself. Question those rigid and extreme attitudes you hold.
2. Hold yourself responsible for your emotions.
3. Hold yourself responsible for making your life better and closer to what you want it to be.
4. Push yourself out of your comfort zone.
5. Unconditionally accept yourself, but remember you are still responsible for the consequences of your actions. Unconditional self-acceptance is not a cop-out clause for misbehavior.
