Repetition Is the Mother of Learning

Dr. Albert Ellis, the originator of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), often said that “Repetition is the mother of learning.” I like to remind my patients that to use REBT, one needs to understand its core principles and therapeutic strategies. REBT is a psychoeducational therapy, and therefore one can learn by listening to audios and videos. On my website REBTDoctor.com, you will find many educational audios and videos useful for learning and re-viewing REBT’s core principles. You can find Dr. Ellis’s lectures explaining the theory of REBT and discussing its application to many different topics. You can find an excellent whiteboard presentation on REBT by my friend and leading REBT practitioner Dr. Windy Dryden.

Recently I gave an interview on the website IdeasXPeople. IdeasXPeople is a thought-provoking website that positions itself as interviewing people at the forefront of their fields, leading the drive into tomorrow and ideas that shape the global conversation. In my interview, I discuss the core ideas of the pioneering form of cognitive behavior therapy known as REBT. I would suggest you listen to this podcast because it will serve as a lucid introduction OR refresher to anyone looking to understand and use REBT effectively. This thing we call REBT is a fascinating tapestry of ideas that looks simple but is not simplistic. Every time I discuss the many dimensions of REBT, I find a new way of explaining it, highlighting a different section or two of this intricate tapestry of useful ideas. I encourage you to give a listen and see for yourself! To listen to my interview click on this link: https://ideasxpeople.com/2020/06/25/walter-matweychuk-rebt-stoicism-a-guidebook-for-life/

Repetition is the mother of learning. REBT works if you understand and work it!
