People Cannot Be Scored

Remember to only measure your acts but do not attempt to measure your “self”. We can never measure our “self” as it is too complex and is in a constant state of evolution. You can measure or rate your deeds. If you perform poorly acknowledge it. Learn from it. But see that your deeds cannot be added up and and used to decide if you are a winner or a loser. Sometimes you will win in life, sometimes lose in life but you are neither a winner nor a loser as a person. All definitions of winners or losers are arbitrary. If you care to achieve or win then certainly reflect on how to improve your actions but see that there are not winners or losers just fallible people who win and sometimes lose.

REBT helps people develop self-acceptance. When you stop rating yourself, stop self-downing and accept yourself warts and all a great deal of emotional misery is terminated. Stop rating your ever changing and complex “self” and only rate your deeds, moods, behaviors, and traits. This will help you improve what can be improved. Recognize that these deeds, moods, behaviors, and traits cannot be summed up for a total person score. People cannot be scored as people. Only what people do can be scored and rated.
