Dr. Dr. Walter Matweychuk, Ph. D.’s New York City Lectures on Friday, May 9th 2014

Tomorrow May 9th I will be doing two lectures in New York City at the Albert Ellis Institute. The first is REBT/CBT: Similarities and Differences (1:30 pm – 4:30 pm). This is a three hour workshop for professionals where I will be discussing the therapy of Aaron T. Beck the founder of Beck’s Cognitive Behavior Therapy and the therapy of Albert Ellis the founder of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. I have had the good fortune of studying and working with both of these important figures of psychotherapy. I will be discussing how although there are similarities between these two therapies there are important differences that in my mind are not well understood and appreciated by many professionals. This is a three hour presentation that will include video demonstrations of both Dr. Beck and Dr. Ellis working with actual patients. Click here for further information.

In the evening (7 pm – 8:30 pm), I will be conducting the Friday Night Workshop where I will be doing an actual live demonstration with two different volunteers from the audience. During each 30 minute demonstration I will show the audience volunteer how to use Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy to help them better address and effectively manage their personal problem. Following each demonstration the audience will get a chance to make comments and ask questions about the demonstrations. This is a great opportunity for people to learn how Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy can be applied to a wide variety of problems of everyday living. Click here for further information.
